Adfel Exec meets with Associate Youth Director of the Inter-American Division

In order to foster a stronger
commitment to service, the executive of Advent Fellowship has been spear-heading
several initiatives to not only encourage youth development and involvement
locally but also integration across the region and, by extension, the
world.

In a recent meeting with Associate
Youth Director of the Inter-American Division of Seventh-day Adventists,
Pastor Balvin Braham, the ADFEL executive sought to advance the fraternity’s
work through collaborative efforts with the Church. Pastor Braham agreed
that there was need for partnership, and proposed that an alliance be
made with the Caribbean and West Indies Unions. He made reference to
a series of meetings currently being conducted between an inter-generational
focus group and Division leaders to discuss the best way to integrate.
He further suggested that representation from ADFEL at the meetings
would be beneficial to all parties involved.

In addition to suggesting the
involvement of ADFEL representatives in these meetings abroad, Pastor
Braham gave insight into an evangelism project that could be launched
locally to mirror that of IAD’s larger initiative set for 2010. The
project takes a familiar, modern, portable device and transforms it
into an effective witnessing tool. The device? Your cell phone. And
from it, simple yet provocative messages such as “How about Jesus
today?” would be perpetuated as a part of the grander commission to
teach, preach and baptize “in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost.”

This year, Advent Fellowship
celebrates 40 years of faithful service to God and is dedicated to continuing
its legacy of vibrant, innovative evangelism.
